What is Polmer Clay

What is Polymer Clay

Polymer clay is a type of modelling clay made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC), a synthetic plastic polymer. It is soft and pliable when raw but hardens when baked in an oven at low temperatures (usually 275-300 degrees Fahrenheit). Polymer clay is very popular for crafting and sculpture because it is easy to work with, comes in a wide variety of colors, and can be moulded and shaped into a variety of forms. It is also durable and resistant to breaking or chipping once it has been baked

When was Polymer Clay developed

It was developed in the 1930s as an alternative to traditional clay and has been available for use by artists and hobbyists since the 1960s. The first commercial brand of polymer clay, Fimo, was introduced in Germany in the late 1960s and has been widely used since then. Polymer clay has become popular due to its versatility, ease of use, and the wide range of colors and finishes that can be achieved with it.
